Dan Rather Reflects On Cbs Departure On Late Show

Dan Rather Reflects on CBS Departure on 'Late Show'

Former Anchor and Managing Editor Returns to Network

Returns to Network After 18 Years

Former CBS Evening News anchor and managing editor Dan Rather returned to the network on Sunday, 18 years after his bitter exit. Rather, now 92 years old, reflected on his departure and his time at CBS.

Rather, who anchored the CBS Evening News for more than two decades, was comforted by Late Show host Stephen Colbert during the interview. Rather spoke about the challenges he faced during his time at CBS, including his coverage of the Vietnam War and the 1980 Iran hostage crisis.

Rather also discussed his controversial departure from CBS in 2005, following a report on President George W. Bush's military service. The report was later discredited, and Rather left CBS shortly after.

Despite the controversy surrounding his departure, Rather said he still has fond memories of his time at CBS. He praised the network for its commitment to journalism and said he is proud of the work he did there.
