Orioles DH Eloy Jiménez Cherishes Reunion With Former White Sox Teammates

The Path to Baltimore

Eloy Jiménez, the Chicago White Sox's former fan favorite, recently joined the Baltimore Orioles as a designated hitter (DH).

Jiménez's journey to Baltimore began in 2013, when he signed with the Chicago Cubs as an international free agent from the Dominican Republic.

He made his major league debut with the White Sox in 2019 and quickly became a key part of their lineup, hitting 31 home runs and driving in 79 RBIs in his rookie season.

A Tumultuous Tenure

Jiménez's time in Chicago was not without its challenges. He missed the entire 2020 season due to a torn pectoral muscle and struggled to regain his form in 2021.

In 2022, Jiménez's production declined further, and he was eventually traded to the Orioles in exchange for a package of prospects.

Reuniting With Old Friends

The trade to Baltimore reunited Jiménez with several of his former White Sox teammates, including Liam Hendriks, AJ Pollock, and Jake Burger.

Jiménez expressed his excitement about the reunion, saying, "It's great to be back with these guys. We have a lot of history together, and I think we can do something special here in Baltimore."

Looking Ahead

The Orioles are hoping that Jiménez can rediscover his old form and help them compete for a playoff spot in 2023.

Jiménez himself is confident that he can contribute to the team's success, saying, "I'm just focused on staying healthy and helping this team win. I know I can still be a productive player, and I'm excited for the opportunity to prove it in Baltimore."
