Aurora Borealis Colorado Today

Aurora Borealis Expected to Dazzle Skies

Canada, Northern United States to Experience Celestial Display

Short-Term Forecast Predicts Intensity, Location

The northern lights, or aurora borealis, are expected to illuminate the skies across Canada and the northern United States tonight and tomorrow night, according to a short-term forecast.

The forecast predicts that the aurora will be visible from as far south as Alabama and northern California during severe G4 storms.

The forecast is based on the OVATION model and provides a 30 to 90-minute prediction of the location and intensity of the aurora.

The aurora borealis is a natural light display in the Earth's sky, predominantly seen in the high-latitude regions (around the Arctic and Antarctic). It is caused by the interaction of charged particles from the magnetosphere with the Earth's atmosphere.
